Our Story

The gospel according to Mary.

My grandmother Mary believed every problem could be made better, or at least more manageable, with a meal. She taught me that sharing something delicious could offer comfort, help someone forget their troubles for a moment, or give them the fuel to face whatever came next.

That belief is at the heart of Gospel SF.

The other half of the story began in Albuquerque in 2010, when Erik and I met while working at Satellite Coffee. Many of our early dates were spent at Café Giuseppe, where we fell in love with Mr. Espresso coffee and the La Victoria Arduino machine that now sits behind our bar.

Gospel SF is the dream we have carried together ever since. I bake, run the shop, and refuse to compromise on quality because I believe everyone deserves good food made with good ingredients. Erik’s faith in me, and in this dream, made opening the doors possible.

More than anything, we want you to feel at home here. Of all the places you could choose in San Francisco, you chose ours. We never take that for granted.
